Professional Bio

Jun Takahashi is an assistant professor in the Department of Linguistics and Asian/Middle Eastern Languages at SDSU. He earned his Ph.D. in language education from Indiana University Bloomington. His research focuses on exploring the intersections between second language (L2) writing and L2 development, particularly learner engagement with written corrective feedback, the development of feedback literacy, and L2 writing processes from a sociocultural perspective.

Before joining SDSU in 2024, he taught at Colby College, Middlebury Summer Language Schools, the Inter-University Center summer program (IUC) in Yokohama, and the University of Nevada, Reno. He was a certified tester for the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) of Japanese. He has taught the Japanese language, Japanese culture, Japanese linguistics, methods of teaching foreign languages, and freshman composition. He received the Hamako Ito Chaplin Award from the Association for Asian Studies in 2024.
