Membership Information
Regular Member
Membership in AATJ (American Association of Teachers of Japanese) is on a calendar-year basis (from January 1 to December 31 each year).
Membership Benefits
- AATJ Newsletter (four issues annually) and monthly email bulletins;
- attend at member rates, and propose presentations for, two annual conferences;
- participate in professional development opportunities;
- nominate outstanding students for membership in the Japanese National Honor Society;
- become a member of a regional or state Japanese language educators’ association concurrent with your national AATJ membership;
- offer participation to your students in AATJ-sponsored contests, exams, and other activities;
- participate in Special Interest Groups on professional development, heritage language education, assessment, study abroad, and other topics;
- benefit from AATJ’s efforts to advocate for the study of Japanese and other languages.

Student Members receive the same benefits of membership as Regular Members, but at a reduced student price.
Corporate Member
The American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) is proud to announce the introduction of Corporate Memberships. AATJ works hand-in-hand with educators, institutions, and communities to strengthen the teaching and learning of Japanese. Now, we are inviting our corporate partners to formally join us in this mission and to share in the benefits of AATJ membership.
